The 2007 Seismic US Nationals returns to Colorado with 4 events scheduled for August 23-26, 2007. On Friday a dual head-to-head Giant Slalom race will take place near Water Valley, in Windsor, CO. Racers will reach 35 mph as they speed through the twisting course. Local skater Jason Mitchell took first last year and will be on hand to defend his title. Greg Fadell will be back and ready to face Mitchell once again.
The race moves to Longmont on Saturday where a dual slalom was played out on Bross Street. Race Organizer and Longmont resident Chris Barker took first in 2006 and expects to top the podium again amidst cheers from local fans.
On Sunday a tight slalom will be run on Coffman St. in downtown Longmont. 2006 US National Champ Richy Carrasco will be back to look for a repeat of his come-from-behind win in 2006 but David Pirnack has Richy in his sights and aims to take that title.
Racers from around the country, Europe, and Canada will compete in five divisions including Kids, Juniors, Women, Amateur Men, and Pro Men.
For the second year, the park slalom race on Thursday night in the new Longmont Skatepark will kick off the Nationals weekend. Racers will fly through the bowls of Sandstone Skatepark. Jason Mitchell looking to repeat his transition slalom dominance.
The event title sponsor, Seismic Skate Systems, is a Boulder-based manufacturer of high-tech skateboard trucks and wheels sold worldwide for use on longboards and slalom boards.
